HOW AND WHEN DID YOU GET INTO VOICE OVER WORK?My venture into voiceovers was quite a whirlwind.I was chatting with a friend of mine, Ronan Byrne backstage before a show about becoming a voiceover artist. He had done his demo with Priscilla and highly recommended piehole so I mailed her in September last year to find out more. She was having her last v.o demo recording session of the year that week, so if I was going to do it, I’d have to get everything together fast. I tracked down some scripts, with her help and then had a one to one assessment and rehearsal with her. I then recorded my demo in the studio. I got my demo back of what they felt were the best samples within the week.
WHAT STYLES OF VOICE OVER DO YOU KICK ASS AT?
My experience as an actor gives me a lot of flexibility with voiceovers. I'm very comfortable with anything from character to straight reads. It also helps to know the lingo, so when a producer asks for a different energy or tone I'm able to provide it immediately without wasting studio time!
WHAT TYPE OF BRANDS HAVE YOU WORKED ON?
Since joining piehole I've had a wide variety of jobs from radio commercials to books on tape. I really enjoy the diversity that voiceovers allow! The character is all in the voice so its an exciting challenge to forget about physicality and focus solely on that.
