Voiceover: Hilary Cotter

Cv_headshot2
I worked with Hilary on a number of lengthy projects in both Irish and English. She is a perfectionist and knew exactly what was required, which meant that she required very little direction. That said, Hilary has very personable nature and is a joy to direct. The end-client — a large multinational corporation — was delighted with the clarity and expressiveness of her voice. Hilary makes my job much easier, not to mention a whole lot more enjoyable, which is why I highly recommend her voiceover skills to anyone looking for someone to nail their message. by Paul Fegan, Sound Engineer and Owner, Bitsixteen 22:17 PM May 24, 2010

Voice Over Bio

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU GET INTO VOICEOVER WORK?

I had my debut in VO work with Tommy Ellis Snr, 25 years ago playing the part of a young boy (?!) opposite the wonderful Brian Munn in a radio advert for the Irish Press.
22 years later, and 2 years of voice training later, I decided to take everyone’s advice and give this voiceover thing a proper go! I recorded my demo with Tommy Ellis Jnr (keeping it in the family!) and found I LOVED every minute of being in the booth and HAD to do more of it. I haven’t looked back since!

WHAT STYLES OF VOICEOVER DO YOU KICK ASS AT?

I have a warm, relaxed straight read but I’m also great with comedy characters (they give me the perfect opportunity to pull out my range of accents from Dublin to Cork to East London to American).
On top of that I can do VOs as gaeilge and can sing – what more could you want?! ;-)

WHAT TYPES OF BRANDS HAVE YOU WORKED ON AND WHO HAVE YOU WORKED WITH?

I’ve been the voice for Power of One, the Dublin Airport Authority, Intel and the Eflow (M50) customer services line, as well as doing ADR for the TV series Raw and playing the role of Ma for the animation series Redneckers.
I’ve also worked with many of the big advertising agencies such as Cawley Nea/ TBWA, IIBBDO and Publicis QMP, as well as with e-learning companies such as Interactive Services.
I’ve also done VOs directly for radio stations such as FM104 and Q102 and have done radio drama for Phantom FM and Near FM.

ARE YOU PERFORMING IN ANY INTERESTING SHOWS AT THE MOMENT?

I’ve just finished filming on the feature film Portrait of a Zombie and I’m planning to develop my own one-woman theatre show in conjunction with the Show In A Bag initiative for the Dublin Fringe Festival.
