Voice Over Bio
I got into voiceovers several years ago, as part of the acting profession as a whole. I always felt comfortable in the studio – must be the womb-like atmosphere! – and I knocked out some fairly diverse radio ads, from women’s shelters to supermarkets, before I drifted away, as stage and television work took over.Having recently spent time back in studio, recording audio books for the National Council for the Blind, I remembered how much I liked being there and decided to re-focus on voiceovers. While there may be quite a difference between recording a 30 second ‘sell’ and a 450 page novel, you still have to make people believe in it!
My voice has always been low in timbre and I would characterise it as natural, trustworthy, warm, yet authoritative. I have a very good facility with accents and can do a range of characters. I am very versatile and my best styles seem to be comic characters, ‘Mums’ (on stage and TV too!) and straight, corporate-type reads.
