My venture into voiceovers was quite a whirlwind.
A friend of mine, Ronan Byrne had done his demo with Priscilla at piehole so I mailed her in September to find out more. She was having her last v.o demo recording session of the year that week, so if I was going to do it, I’d have to get everything together fast. I tracked down some scripts, with her help and then had a one to one asessment and rehearsal with her. Usually she does these in small groups and you get an afternoon, where the group hangs out (with pizza!) and everyone gives feedback on which scripts worked or didn’t work for you.
I then recorded my demo in the studio. I wasn’t made to feel under pressure for time, which was great and the team were really friendly and helpful. I got my demo back of what they felt were the best samples within the week!
My first job was doing books on tape, and its been a nice steady little nixer since. I reckon its WELL worth the investment!
I would have no hesitation in recommending Piehole for recording a voice demo. They were invaluable in helping to source and select good material in advance of the recording session. As a result of their practice session and ongoing consultation, I went in to the studio much more prepared than I would otherwise have been, confident that I had the best scripts available to me to record. Their advice in the studio pushed me to achieve the best recording I could and helped me to feel much more confident in the studio environment.
