Self-diagnosis: Jim Roche

My name is Jim Roche and I’m an actor. I’ve been working in the business now for nearly 10 years. I also work as a tutor at The Gaiety School of Acting. One of my favorite theatre jobs was ‘Gerry and The Peace Process’ a spoof musical about Sinn Fein. I worked on ‘I, Keano’, which you’ve probably heard of. I recently played Algernon in a nationwide tour of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ which was little bit of a dream come true for me. I played Faustus in the show of the same name all over the country and really enjoyed dancing with the Devil. In film, my favorite job was on the re-make of ‘Lassie’ which was great fun. I’ve done loads of shorts, you can see one of them here. On TV, I appear as PJ, one of the Bally Boys on Killinaskully. I’ve also worked on Fair City and most recently, The Tudors which was fantastic. I’ve just started pursuing the voiceover work and I admit to finding it tough. I’ve had a bit of luck, doing a radio campaign for yourlocal.ie and some training video V/O for the HSE but I intend to step things up over the next year. My next project is an Irish Film Board short in the Bollywood style with the award winning director, David O’Sullivan, at the helm so that should be interesting! HEAR JIM’S DEMO.

We seem to have lived parallel lives, although Ive never been an actor. Just surfing and found your site, always interesting to see people with the same name and what they are about.
