No irish radio cannes. WTF?

It’s Cannes-time again, and the radio shortlists are out.
There’s no shortlist from Ireland this year, and why the F- not? We’re writer-y. We’re witty. We’ve great sound studios and VO talent. You don’t need a huge budget with radio, like you do with TV in order to polish your turds. In fact, a rubbish ad costs just about as much to make as a great ad.

With this, we’re launching the Irish Radio Ad of the Year Awards. Anyone can enter, and it’s free of charge to enter. The ad doesn’t have to have run on air. It just has to be cool. Then we’ll get some amazing non-biased incredibly talented international creative director to judge next year.

So basically - send us your stuff as it gets produced. We’ll be in touch with deadlines, and harassment.

What does the winner get? Glory, fame and a pat on the back. And mainly - a bit of pressure on the agency to spend the bucks and enter into Cannes.

Radio ad for Cash & Carry Kitchens

We’ve launched our Piehole radio ad of the year competition, and invited all copywriters and VOs and sound studios to send in their radio ads - whether they ran on air or not. We’ll be narrowing them down to finalists early next year, so keep them coming in. track-46cashandcarry was sent in by VO Hugh Barford - a british VO based in Dublin.
